Police in Hoboken have arrested a man from Bayonne who allegedly tried to rob a bank, but ran into a big problem.
The incident happened June 6 around 6:45 p.m. at Investors Bank at 221 River St.
According to police, Edward Dempsey, 54, gave the tellers a note demanding money, but none of the tellers’ drawers had any cash in them.
The man climbed onto the counter to see for himself before running away.
Authorities say the tellers already stored the day's money away, and there was no cash in their drawers.
Dempsey has been charged with second-degree robbery.
He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility where he awaits a detention hearing.
