WOODBRIDGE -

Police say five women have been charged Thursday after another woman was assaulted and robbed while walking in Woodbridge.

They say the suspects ranged from 18 to 34 years old.

According to police, the five women, all of whom are from Ansonia and Waterbury, drove up alongside the victim as she walked along Litchfield Turnpike Tuesday morning.

They say three of the women got out of the car, attacked the victim and stole her purse and personal items.

Officials say the victim thought quickly enough to get the license plate number, helping police locate the suspects a short time later.
