NORWALK -

A Milford doctor has pleaded guilty to operating a "pill mill" out of a Norwalk health care center.

Dr. Bharat Patel pleaded guilty to illegally distributing oxycodone to patients who didn't need it, according to the Connecticut Post.

He faces up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing.

Prosecutors say Patel left the prescriptions at a liquor store next to his practice, and patients would leave money there for him.
