The brother of New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins has been charged in connection with the death of a family friend whose body was found in the player’s home Tuesday.
William Jenkins Jr., 34, was arrested in upstate New York, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. He was charged with aggravated manslaughter in connection with the death of 25-year-old Roosevelt Rene.
Rene was a music producer who went by the name Trypps Beatz. His body was found in the basement of a Fair Lawn home owned by Janoris Jenkins. Rene and William Jenkins were said to have lived in the home year-round. Janoris Jenkins is said to only live in the home during the football season. The player was in Florida when the death occurred.
Hip-hop artist Benny The Butcher says that he made music with Rene and had just seen him two weeks ago.
“He knew how to record, make beats. He knew how to mix music, master the songs. He was real humble,” Benny says.
The musical artist says that he was shocked by the death.
“I’ve never seen him get angry with anybody. I’ve never seen him get in a heated argument,” he says.
William Jenkins is currently in custody in the Ontario County Jail in New York.
Officials have not released Rene’s cause of death
