Heavy rain causes messy morning commute, power outages

Thunderstorms over western Connecticut made for a slippery Thursday morning commute.

News 12's mobile GoPro car was on I-95 checking out road conditions.

With on and off rain, visibility was not always clear and some roads were prone to flooding.

Officials advised drivers to not drive through any standing water, but rather to turn around immediately.

They say the storm had also caused power outages for many residents throughout state.

United Illuminating reported more than 300 residents without power, while Eversource said nearly 4,100 of their customers had lost power.

Officials say to treat all down powerlines as if they are live.
