Thousands of people turned out in Bridgeport Sunday for the annual Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County.
The Puerto Rican Parade and Festival of Fairfield County is a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower a people through the celebration of their culture.

Hundreds of performers from across the region came to celebrate Puerto Rican culture under a perfect summer sky.
Noelia Juan said the mood in the Puerto Rican community has been anything but sunny in the wake of the hurricane, which is why the  parade provided a welcomed distraction.
"Even on this day of celebration, our hearts are with the Puerto Rico on that island still suffering the effects of the hurricane without proper disaster relief,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
Organizers say the perfect weather led to one of the biggest turnouts in the history of the event.
