Fairfield Police Department holds annual blood drive

FAIRFIELD -

The Fairfield Police Department held its annual blood drive Tuesday.

The department holds the event this time of year to combat the anticipated shortage from regular donors changing schedules in summer.

"The summer time is typically a time when the Red Cross reaches out to us because as I understand it, their donors drop during the summer time months because people are so busy with vacations and so forth," says Fairfield Police Department Lt. Edward Greene.

The department says they filled every appointment slot, making the drive a success.
