Authorities say that a national event at the Build-A-Bear Workshop Thursday was so popular that it had to close its lines in the U.S. due to crowd and safety concerns.
Pay Your Age Day allowed guests to create a furry friend, with payment determined by how old the individual making the bear was.
Older guests paid a maximum of $29.  The minimum price for a bear was $1.
Some customers at the Westfield Trumbull Mall say they were in line for more than four hours. They say when your kids are small it's worth the wait.
One parent says it's summer break so it's no big deal to kill a few hours. She says places like Panera Bread were great by coming to people on line and handing out drinks and snacks.

Guests could also pay their age for an unstuffed furry friend and come back to have the full Build-A-Bear Workshop experience at a later date.
