Part of a Bridgeport nursing home will be closing two months after it was raided by federal agents.

The Bridgeport Manor section of the Bridgeport Health Care Center was raided by the FBI and IRS. Employees for years complained about vanishing pensions and health insurance money.

The Department of Labor has accused the owner of diverting millions into his own personal charity, which he denies.

This week, a bankruptcy judge approved closing Bridgeport Manor to try to get the facility financially stable again. A bankruptcy trustee is now in charge. He said in court filings that the manor has lost $21 million in the last four years.

The trustee called it a "sad case" in which he's "attempting to correct one emergency after another."

A complaint from state Social Services says the mounting financial losses "jeopardize" the patients' "health, safety, and welfare."

The owner's attorneys are demanding nearly a half-million dollars in legal fees from the facility while the criminal investigation continues.

In all, 276 people work at Bridgeport Manor. Some of them will get to transfer to Bridgeport Health Care, which is in the back of the complex.

The facility is working with its 75 residents to find them new places to live.
