Stamford-based Americares assists in California wildfire relief

Stamford-based Americares is sending supplies to California to help those affected by the latest series of wildfires.
Americares is providing respirator masks, hygiene kits and first aid supplies to help area medical clinics.
Experts say it's the sixth most destructive fire in California's history.
Officials say getting the supplies to where they need to go has been a challenge due to the number of roads cut off by the fire.
Firefighters from Connecticut are also helping out in California.
Westport Fire Chief Robert Yost spent some time fighting Midwest wildfires back in 2016 and says it's dangerous work.
Yost also says overgrowth makes massive wildfires more likely to happen.
So far, the wildfires have forced over 30,000 residents to evacuate.
