NEWTOWN -

Students from Parkland, Florida finished up their 50-city, 20-state tour with a final stop in Newtown Sunday.

The students have held March for Our Lives rallies across the country, in areas that have had mass shootings, including the University of Virginia and Las Vegas.

The group from Newton and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School came together to speak out against gun violence.

Attendees of the event say the way that Parkland students are speaking out has helped the children of Sandy Hook find their voice.

"You live here in town, you live it every day, whether it’s overt--it's there--every day of your life," said David Stowe, vice chair of the Newtown Action Alliance. "And it was great seeing those kids draw motivation from the Parkland kids to be able to stand up and express themselves."

The Road to Change bus tour hoped to get young people engaged in the political process and motivated to vote.

The March for Our Lives event also focused on community and featured youth music performances, food trucks and family-friendly activities.
