Repair work began Monday on the fence around Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale.
Construction will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays until the project is complete, according to Newsday.
The fence was installed back in 1937. It has weathered over time and seen damage from car accidents.
Wellwood Avenue will remain open during construction.
The work is expected to be finished in April of next year.
