Connecticut students and parents gear up for start of school year

NORWALK -

Most Connecticut schools are back in session next week, and parents and students alike are beginning to gear up for the start of the new school year.

Health experts advise putting kids to bed early this week and waking them up earlier as well to get them back into the school schedule.

They also recommend a healthy diet to help students stay focused on the first week back in school.

Those who are in need of school supplies are in luck: Connecticut is tax-free this week.

Several school supply drives will take place this week, including one at the Burroughs Community Center in Bridgeport. The center is asking for pens, pencils, notebooks and binders. Residents can donate the items on the second floor of the center.
