Bridgeport officials and students celebrated the completion of construction on the new Harding High School.
The city cut the ribbon on one of the most anticipated school construction projects in recent memory.
The $107 million building on Bond Street replaces the original school that was built in 1925.
The new facility features state-of-the-art computer and science labs. It also has a fully functional mini health services center.
"In our district's strategic plan we have four pillars and those pillars are student achievement, curriculum and instruction, recruitment and retention, parent and community engagement and when we think about Harding High School and this new dynamic facility they directly align with our strategic pillar," said Aresta Johnson, superintendent of Bridgeport Public Schools.
Over 1,100 students will begin school at Harding High School next Thursday.
