BRIDGEPORT -

Firefighters in Bridgeport responding to the scene of a car accident were forced to take cover Thursday after hearing shots fired.

The firefighters were at a call on Edna and Noble avenues around 7 p.m. when they say they heard 10 gunshots. They immediately reported the incident to dispatch.

Officials say one of the rounds fired struck one of the vehicles at the scene, but luckily no one was hurt.

Fire officials say firefighters are trained for these types of situations.

Police recovered one shell casing from the scene.
