This story about a study ranking Connecticut No. 1 as the most psychopathic state in the United States was originally posted on August 31 and was the 12th most-viewed story of the year in Connecticut. Original story below.
A study by a Texas university looked at which states in the United States are the most psychopathic.
The study by Southern Methodist University professor Ryan Murphy found that Connecticut ranks No. 1 in the U.S. as the most psychopathic state.
Murphy says that the study "constructs a cross-section of the 'Big Five' personality traits and demonstrates their relationship with outcomes variables for the continental United States… When these two findings are combined, a state-level estimate of psychopathy is produced."
California ranks No. 2, followed by New Jersey.
The lease psychopathic states were Tennessee, Vermont and West Virginia, according to the study.
