Police lieutenant accused of assaulting wife, holding family hostage

NEW HAVEN -

A police lieutenant is accused of assaulting his wife and then holding her and their three children hostage in New Haven.

SWAT teams were called the home of Raghue Tennant earlier this week.

Police say his wife was assaulted for several days before the standoff and they believe there's a "disturbing pattern of domestic abuse."

The 44-year-old has been suspended from the department.
