Yankees name Milford man 'Veteran of the Game'

A Milford veteran's favorite team honored him over the weekend for his service to the country.
Richard Herman, 99, was named 'Veteran of the Game' at the Yankees game on Sunday. Herman, his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter were brought onto the field for the honor.
Herman joined the Army in 1941 and served in France, Belgium, Germany, Austria and the Pacific before being honorably discharged as a captain in 1946.
"We couldn't ask for a better situation," says Herman. "We all enjoyed it, and a lot of my friends and neighbors and relatives came to the game. It was fun."
Herman says it was a great day even though his team lost.
