DARIEN -

Coastal areas of western Connecticut saw flooding amid Tuesday's heavy rainfall.

The underpass at Post and Tokeneke roads in Darien was severely flooded, trapping a car that tried to go through the water. Police say its occupants exited the vehicle safely.

Police blocked off the area. A nearby business worker says the car went around the established blockade.

Since the area is right near the train station, pedestrians had to navigate around the flooded section.

Police urged drivers to avoid going through standing water.
