Bridgeport officials urge residents without flood insurance to reach out

BRIDGEPORT -

Bridgeport officials are urging residents who don't have flood insurance but saw damage during Tuesday's storm to reach out.

The Old Town Commons condominiums off of Madison Avenue is located in the city's North End, which is not in a flood zone. And that's why residents there say they did not buy flood insurance.

Some condo residents saw their personal belongings damaged or destroyed. And 80 condo basements were flooded.

Damage reports can be made to the city's Emergency Operation Center by calling 203-579-3829.

A representative will want to know the dollar value of what was lost so they can tally up all of the losses and apply to FEMA for a federal disaster declaration, which could lead to help from the government for those affected.
