A Bridgeport cemetery is under investigation for allegedly planning to stack new bodies in old graves as part of a scheme to sell more plots.
A civil case filed against the owner of Park Cemetery by a resident whose relatives are buried in the cemetery alleges severe mismanagement and that the cemetery was disposing of old bones and caskets to make room for new bodies.
"Well, it's like going through the grief process all over again," says Cheryl Jansen, the resident. "You're suffering the death a second time."
Photos provided by a relative of another person buried in the cemetery show tire tracks from a back hoe that marred the graves.
They also show the cemetery in general disarray.
Police Chief AJ Perez says he executed a search warrant triggered by Jansen's lawsuit, and while he found the cemetery did violate many state regulations, it did not commit any crimes.
As the civil case continues, Jansen says solving all the problems will take hard work and time.
Park Cemetery did not respond to News 12's request for comment.
