2 women launch app for moms with special-needs children

Two local women have launched an app to bring together moms who are raising children with special needs.
Wolf + Friends is designed to connect like-minded women raising kids with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, Down syndrome and other learning differences.
App creators Gena Mann and Carissa Tozzi say the app is also meant to be a judgment-free space where members make new friends.
It also includes a content feed where moms can read relevant news, shop for developmentally appropriate products and get tips from experts.
Mann has two sons with autism, and says raising kids with special needs can be isolating.
"If I'd have moved to a new town and I could've just opened up an app, put in my kids' information, diagnosis, put in some information about myself and be given back a list of moms in my area who also had children of similar ages, similar diagnosis and I could've just friended people and sent a message. It would've changed everything for me," says Mann.
Mann says she hopes to open the app up to dads of special needs children in the future.
The app is free and available on smartphone app stores.
