Street renamed to honor firefighter who died of 9/11-related illness

A Brooklyn street has been renamed to honor firefighter William Gormley, who died from a 9/11-related illness.
The new street sign was unveiled at the corner of Flatbush and Flatlands avenues on Saturday.
Gormley served for nearly two decades with Ladder 174 of East Flatbush, after starting his career in the U.S. Marine Corps.
A devoted dad and husband, he rushed to Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks. He died of cancer last year.
Officials say Gormley is one of more than 180 FDNY members who have died from 9/11-related illnesses.
