The Pride of Ossining wins News 12 School Spirit Showdown

The News 12 School Spirit Showdown has a new winner and it’s the Pride of Ossining High School.
Maroon and white madness took over the school gymnasium on Friday, as the student body celebrated its major victory with over 32,000 votes cast. “It was a community wide effort. Twitter, Facebook, parents, students, staff, we really promoted this and showcased what Ossining is all about,” says Principal Stephen Hancock.
It was like a halftime show, up and down the school hallways, as students like Maggie Ford lead classmates on an interactive pep rally. “When we found out we won the contest, drum line was really excited because Mr. Vargas our band director, told us we'd get to play in the hallways, we never get to do that,” says Ford.
There's much more to the school then pep, there's plenty of diversity and togetherness amongst the school’s 1,600 students.
“We all get together and it's amazing having all the different students from all over the world. You'll meet people here who'll be friends for life,” says student Thomas Gustin.
Voting for most school spirit continues at News12.com.  We'll pick a new winner Tuesday and we'll showcase that school next week!
