BROOKFIELD -

A worker from Danbury was fatally struck by a car Friday morning in Brookfield.

Police say a paving company was offloading a piece of equipment on Whisconier Road when the crash happened. They say a car driven by Linda Pendergast, of Brookfield, was traveling south on the road and moved into the northbound lane to get around a trailer.

That's when police say she hit the worker, identified as 58-year-old Harold Trafton, of Danbury.

Trafton was taken to Danbury Hospital, where he later died.
