BROOKFIELD -

A man was fatally struck by a car in Brookfield Friday morning on Route 25.

Police say Harold Trafton was uploading equipment to pave a driveway when a a car came up over the hill and hit him.

Trafton was taken to Danbury Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A neighbor says she heard the commotion before running outside.

"She was out standing by the side of her car and then she seemed to just throw herself right on to her hood," said Gail Bernauer of Brookfield. "So you knew that this was just horrific."

Police are still investigating. They say because of the number of curves and hills on Route 25, it's important to stay alert.
