In front of a sold out crowd, the New Jersey State PBA took the ice against their new rival FDNY hockey squad at the Ice Vault in Wayne, all to benefit those affected by the school bus crash in Paramus earlier this year.

In May, a school bus carrying students on a field trip collided with a dump truck on I-80. Fifth-grade student Miranda Faith Vargas was killed, as was teacher Jennifer Williamson Kennedy. Dozens were injured.

Sixth-grader Brendan O'Callaghan, a goalie, spent 13 days in the hospital recovering after the crash. 

“I kept fighting, saying ‘I can't wait until hockey,’" he told News 12. 

Like any successful athlete, O’Callaghan returned to the sport he loves five months later. He dropped the ceremonial first puck before Saturday’s game. 

All of the proceeds from the game are going toward the Paramus Children's Health Foundation.
