Three candidates have been announced for the position of Bridgeport police chief.
Mayor Joe Ganim made the announcement Tuesday after a nationwide search began over the summer with dozens of candidates.
Seven semifinalists were interviewed Friday, and now only three remain.
Ganim says acting Police Chief AJ Perez, Bridgeport Police Capt. Roderick Porter and an Assistant Chief of Police from New Haven, Luiz Casanova have been selected as candidates.
Perez has already served as the acting chief for 30 months.
Ganim says he will interview the finalists over the next few weeks, and the city will make a decision by the end of the year.
