BRIDGEPORT -

Officials say a fire caused major damage to a home in Bridgeport Monday.

They say the fire happened at the corner of Lindley and Hunting streets.

Bridgeport fire officials tells News 12 that everyone who lives in the home made it out safely.

Crews were still on the scene hours later to search the home.

Bridgeport firefighters were called to the scene just after 4 p.m. to find a heavy fire on the first floor.

Neighbors say they're in disbelief and that the family had just recently remodeled the home two weeks ago.

The investigation into the cause is ongoing.
