A Long Island priest is stepping away from his official duties following allegations involving a child.
Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Mineola has seen its share of storms. But now news that one of its associate pastors is being investigated for what may be inappropriate conduct with a youth is disappointing many.

Church administration confirmed in a statement to News 12 that "The Diocese of Rockville Centre recently received information that caused it to become concerned about Father Richard Kammerer's interactions with youth." Many faithful were stunned at the allegations.
When the diocese learned of the allegations, it says it alerted the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. Prosecutors told News 12 in a statement that "an investigation has commenced."
One congregation member who didn't want to give her name says she still supports the church and its priests.
The diocese says "Father Kammerer has agreed to step away from ministry until further notice…" He is the third Long Island priest to do so in the last two months.

Even with the allegations, some parishioners told News 12 that it will not change their faith in the Catholic Church.
