A symposium at the Maplewood Senior Living Center provided information on dementia and Alzheimer's disease for families faced with the challenge.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Mark Lachs, who is the director of geriatrics for New York Presbyterian Health Care System. Dr. Lachs was a delegate to the White House Conference on Aging in 2006 and has some secrets to successful aging.
"The importance of socialization, your attitudes and beliefs about aging which can confer significant longevity," says Dr. Lachs.
Since there are so many concerns about memory loss in seniors, experts say it's important to get the right care and for caregivers to find the right support and resources.
