Connecticut scrambles for oil deliveries ahead of frigid Thanksgiving

Posted: Updated:
WESTPORT -

Connecticut residents are scrambling to get their home heating oil deliveries, as temperatures are expected to drop later this week.

Standard Oil says its drivers could be working an extra day this week to keep up with the demand for deliveries.

Highs for Thanksgiving Day are expected to only reach the mid-20s. The forthcoming frigid temperatures has led to plenty of calls to Standard Oil already this week. The company is expecting all 50 trucks to go out this week.

Westport resident Will Gordon got his delivery Monday. He says it’s a good idea to be prepared.

"You want to know that you're all ready to go," says Gordon. "You don't want any surprises, because unlike the rest of the year ... as soon as you have a problem, you're in trouble."

Gordon says he has noticed his oil lasts longer since upgrading to a more energy-efficient boiler.
