Runners lace up, brave the cold for 'turkey trot' races

FAIRFIELD -

Runners woke up early across the state to lace up and brave the cold in "turkey trot" races.

News 12 Connecticut's John Craven was in Fairfield for the 41st annual Pequot Runners Thanksgiving Day 5 Mile Race & Walk.

It was so cold that the starting horn and the water faucet for the runners froze. Still, thousands of runners turned out for the race.

Most people told News 12 that they usual go to the Warde-Ludlowe football game, but that game was played last night due to the weather.
