Stamford man facing charges after infant found with skull fractures

A Stamford man behind bars on domestic violence charges is now facing abuse and assault of an infant charges, police say.
Jeisson Stiven Garcia Alfonso, 23, was arrested when he appeared in Stamford Superior Court Thursday for separate domestic violence charges.
Police say the victim is his girlfriend's daughter, who was 2 months old at the time of the assault. They say that she suffered from life-altering injuries.
Alfonso has been held in jail since February on charges of domestic violence relating to his girlfriend.
Investigators cite evidence of Garcia Alfonso repeatedly abusing his girlfriend's daughter when she was left alone with him, according to a 22-page arrest affidavit.
Some of the injuries sustained by the infant included skull fractures, broken legs, retinol hemorrhaging, stretched neck ligaments and bruising, according to court documents.
The judge set Garcia Alfonso's bail at $1 million.
His next court appearance is Jan. 3.
