Volunteers wrapped about 6,000 gifts for children affected by homelessness Saturday.

The event was organized by Inspirica, an organization whose mission is to break the cycle of homelessness by helping people achieve and maintain permanent housing and stability in their lives.

The volunteers started working at 7 a.m. to wrap the donated gifts.

Many of those who wrapped gifts say that this event is meaningful to them because the gifts are for those in need.

“When I look at these gifts, I think about my son and how fortunate we are,” says one volunteer. “And when you come from a position of privilege you have a strong responsibility to help others.”

Inspirica has been paying it forward with their holiday gift collection for 29 years and has since grown from 25 children to 2,815 children.

Representatives of the organization say that though their big holiday gift collection is over, they are always looking for volunteers to maintain their 12 facilities.
