Local brewery produces special beer to help victims of California wildfires

WOODBRIDGE -

Local breweries are joining in a national effort to help the victims of the California wildfires.

Over 1,200 breweries all over the country are brewing Resilience Butte County Proud IPA and selling it in their taprooms, where all proceeds will benefit the Camp Fire Relief Fund. Resilience IPA will be available in New England Brewery's taproom for pints and growler fills starting around Dec. 26.

That charity, and the brewing effort, was set up by Sierra Nevada Brewing, which sits close to the site of the most destructive wildfire in California history.

Organizers say when they work together, small businesses can make a big difference.

"You get all these small, independent craft brewers all chipping in and doing something like this, if we do it and ours, let's say hypothetically ours raises $10,000, we're one of 1,200 breweries and we're doing a smaller size batch," says Marty Juliano, director of business development.

Sierra Nevada is also canning and distributing the beer, so it should be on store shelves around the same time.
