Officials: Downtown restaurant goes up in flames in Milford

MILFORD -

A downtown restaurant in Milford went up in flames Sunday, police say.

Investigative crews were back at the scene of the fire Monday with the owner of Flames Mediterranean Grill.

Officials say the grill was closed at the time of the fire, and the 911 call was made by an employee of another local restaurant after someone complained of smoke.

Firefighters reportedly found the restaurant full of thick, black smoke.

The restaurant was known for helping out the community when they offered the less fortunate free sandwiches last year.

Fire officials say with the holiday season here, fire prevention is important everywhere from homes to restaurants.

Officials say they will be releasing a statement on how the fire started after the investigation is complete.
