Police: Howell’s killer confesses to fatal Bridgeport shooting

Posted: Updated:
BRIDGEPORT -

Tajay Chambers showed little emotion in court Thursday as he faced murder charges in connection to the fatal shooting of 12-year-old Clinton Howell.

Police say Chambers, 18, along with 16-year-old Alexander Bolanos, a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old were out hunting members of a rival gang when the shooting took place nine days ago.

Court records obtained by News 12 Connecticut say Chambers told investigators he shot Howell with a 9 mm handgun from the rear of a stolen SUV that passed by the victim and his cousin multiple times before the shooting occurred.

The records say Chambers told investigators he did not know his victim was only 12 years old when he pulled the trigger.

Authorities say the incident was the result of an ongoing dispute.

The judge set bond at $1 million, saying cases don't come any more serious than this one.

Chambers, who is facing a slew of charges, is due back in court on Jan. 8.
