A knife-wielding man was killed and a woman was injured during a police-involved shooting in Danbury, officials say.
The incident happened Saturday at 25 Memorial Drive around 9:30 p.m.
Danbury police officers say they responded to reports of a suspicious man in the area when they spotted a person with a knife walking around a home.
After a brief confrontation, one of the officers used a Taser to disarm the man, but police say it was ineffective.
A second Danbury officer fired multiple shots, striking the man at least once, police say.
Officials say a female relative of the knife-wielding man also suffered a gunshot wounds as a result of the incident.
The man and woman were taken to Danbury Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead. The woman is listed in critical, but stable condition.
The identities of the officers and persons involved have not been released.
The Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime unit is investigating the case.
