NORWALK -

The Milford Police Department and other law enforcement agencies across the state said they would step up patrol New Year’s Eve and prioritize seeking out drunk drivers.

According to law enforcement officials, the most dangerous hours of the year to drive are between 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve and 7 a.m. New Year’s Day.

Milford police said they planned to have extra officers out on the roads, including near downtown bars.

Police in Norwalk said they planned to deploy roving DUI checkpoints across the city. They advised community members to plan ahead about transportation before consuming alcohol.
