DANBURY -

Residents at the Glen Senior Apartments in Danbury are looking for answers after a knife-wielding man was killed and a woman was injured during a police-involved shooting at the apartments Saturday.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. when Danbury police officers say they responded to reports of a suspicious man with a knife circling a home in the complex.

After a brief confrontation, one of the officers used a Taser to disarm the man. But police say it was ineffective. A second Danbury officer fired multiple shots, striking the man at least once, police say.

Officials say a female relative of the knife-wielding man also suffered a gunshot wound as a result of the incident.

The man and the woman were taken to Danbury Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.

A neighbor who wishes to remain anonymous tells News 12 Connecticut that the man killed was in his 40s and living with his mother.

The neighbor says he believes the man had a lengthy criminal record.

The identities of the officers and people involved have not been released.

State police have since taken over the investigation.
