Danbury State’s Attorney’s Office orders probe into deadly police-involved shooting
Police say the Danbury State’s Attorney’s Office has ordered an investigation into the deadly police-involved shooting at a senior living facility.
Paul Arbitelle, 45, was shot and killed by police on Dec. 29, at the Glen Senior Apartments.
Police say they responded to the home after a 911 caller told them a man was walking around the outside of the home with a knife.
After a brief confrontation, one of the officers used a Taser to disarm Arbitelle, but police say it was ineffective.
A second Danbury officer fired multiple shots, striking Arbitelle at least once, police say.
A woman and relative of Arbitelle was also struck by the officer's gunfire.
Both were transported to Danbury Hospital, where Arbitelle was pronounced dead.
The woman was listed in critical but stable condition.
State police say the entire incident is being investigated. "At the request of the Danbury State’s Attorney’s Office, the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime is investigating the use of force incident," police wrote in a press release.
