Brooklyn bar attracts customers with century-old curiosities

A Downtown Brooklyn bar is attracting customers for its 19th century medical museum.
Ryan Matthew Cohn, curator and owner of House of Wax at City Point Mall, created a place where one can examine a unique museum collection and be able to enjoy a cocktail or two.
“The collection dates back to around 1870, some of the pieces date back early 20th century. It’s just amazing, especially coming from Germany, surviving the war, surviving conditions. It’s amazing they remained together,” Cohn shares.
If you’re not grossed out by cuts, open wounds, diseases, and death masks, this place is a must-see.
Cohn says his goal was to take customers into a completely different world and allow people to witness a one-of-a-kind collection.
“I think I like what people to do when they leave the bar is at least have a better understanding of historical models, anatomy and just the different things we celebrate here,” Cohn said.
The museum is free of charge and its located on the third floor inside City Point Mall right next to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.
