One suspect remains at large after leading police on a high-speed chase on the New Jersey Turnpike that ended in a business complex in Middlesex County.
The chase began around 1:30 p.m. on the northbound side of the Turnpike south of Edison. Two suspects were seen driving a silver Nissan Altima. Witnesses say that the vehicle was traveling an excess of 100 mph at some points during the chase.
The suspects eventually got off the Turnpike in the Raritan Center business complex in Edison and ditched their car – leading to a large police search by ground and air. Businesses and some schools in the area were placed on lockdown during the search.
News 12 New Jersey cameras were there to see one suspect get arrested after he was apparently hiding in some bushes along the ramp heading toward Route 440. The second suspect remains on the loose. He was last seen wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
Law enforcement officials say that the investigation began when drug enforcement agents and officers with the Pennsylvania State Police attempted to serve an arrest warrant in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, related to charges involving several kilograms of heroin.
No injuries were reported during the chase.
