DANBURY -

A shooting in Danbury landed one person in the hospital Thursday, and authorities are seeking the gunman.

Police say one victim was taken to Danbury Hospital with a gunshot wound to their arm. They say the shooting took place in the area of Ellsworth and Hospital avenues.

Authorities say the shooter was last seen in the area of Wooster Cemetery. A police news release says reports indicate the shooter was on foot and is described as a young African-American male wearing a blue do-rag and a black North Face backpack.

Danbury police added that a preliminary investigation indicated the shooting was targeted, and the suspect posed no imminent threat to the public.

Western Connecticut State University and Ellsworth Avenue School were asked to implement security measures in response to the shooting.
