Bring two cups of water to a boil. ( any liquid of your choice may be used in place of water. )

Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon olive oil. ( oil or butter are optional but add a lot of flavor)

Once boiling, add 1 cup grains of your choice. (Rice, quinoa, barley, bulgar wheat...etc.) bring back to a boil. Stir.

Turn heat to the lowest setting, cover and let cook for twenty minutes.

After twenty minutes, remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes.
