BRIDGEPORT -

The family of Bridgeport's first homicide victim in 2019 remains in shock over their sudden loss as they try to cover the funeral expenses.

Police say Razzie Hancock, 39, was stabbed to death in an apartment on Bishop Avenue while visiting a woman, who was wounded in the attack.

Authorities later arrested Kenyon Gay, 41, and charged him with murder and assault.

Marshall Hancock, the victim's uncle, says the past few days have been one long blur filled with unimaginable grief. Marshall says he gave Razzie a ride to Bishop Avenue the night he was killed.

"I just passed out on the floor because I just dropped him off," says Marshall Hancock. "That really had an effect on me, it really tore me apart because I said to myself, ‘Only if I didn't bring him, what if I didn't drop him off there?’ This wouldn't have happened."

The family is asking for help paying for funeral expenses.
