Community members rally against proposed homeless shelter in Westchester Square

Community members rallied Saturday afternoon against a proposed 40-bed homeless and supportive housing program in Westchester Square.
The rally happened around 1 p.m. on the corner of St. Peters and Glebe Avenue.
Organizers say they need schools, senior housing and community programming instead of the proposed project.
“Today we stand in unity to say no to any more shelters here,” says Lou Rocco, the president of the Westchester Square Civic Association. “We are neglecting our seniors. We are neglecting our children.”
The event was sponsored by the Westchester Square Civic Association and community members.
