Torrington will open warming centers around town during the expected extreme cold conditions starting Monday.
Joseph House at 116 Water St. will be operating 7 days a week from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m.
The Community Soup Kitchen on Prospect Street will also be open from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Saint Peter's Church Hall on East Main Street will open its doors to the community 3 p.m. through 8:30 p.m.
Officials in Brookfield are preparing for power outages. They say Brookfield High School will be open as an emergency shelter during the storm.
Residents can get the latest information by checking the town's Facebook page for announcements on the shelter's opening. An emergency management team will be watching the storm closely and will issue periodic updates as needed.
