Whipping winds, bitter-cold temps grip Long Island

The worst precipitation of this weekend's storm may be long gone, but whipping winds and frigid conditions have gripped Long Island.
Most of downtown Huntington was a ghost town by Sunday night. Anyone spotted on the street looked to be heading to a car or somewhere indoors.
Residents said the best way to cope with the outdoors was by bundling up in multiple layers.
Earlier, Port Jefferson harbor was also mostly abandoned. Trees flailed with every burst of wind, and the water was choppy.
Any lingering water from the day's rainfall was expected to freeze over amid the bitter cold.
